I started my day with a half hour of power walking outside. It was COLD! I wore a hat and gloves so I was fine, but I wasn't expecting it to be as cold as it was. I plan on doing either Core Fusion Pure Abs & Arms or my own strength training routine after work. It depends on what I'm in the mood for.
Last night's dinner was a usual suspect.
Baked sweet potato and chicken stuffed with Garlic & Herb Laughing Cow and pickles. Steamed brussels on the side for a veggie. I had originally planned to have vegetarian baked beans not chicken, but I realized after reading the label on the beans that the sauce they were in contained gluten. Oh well, dinner was still delicious, but I'm sick of the chicken stuffed with Laughing Cow and pickles. Do you believe it? I never get sick of foods, but I think I've worn this one out.
I came across this interesting article yesterday about what really motivates people to exercise. It turns out, a lot of people aren't motivated by weight loss or even their health. The author of the article found that some people workout to spend time with their significant other, to spend time with friends, and some just to get out of the house. Personally, I exercise for my health first, but it's also the only way I can relieve stress from work and life. It's also my "me" time. What motivates you to exercise?

I definitely exercise because of the way it makes me feel-- it helps keep me stress-free and challenges me :-)
I exercise because it gives me stress relief and just makes me feel so confident and good about myself. :)
For my healthy-both physical and mental!
Exercise motivates me for a lot of reasons. First and foremost my health, second because it gives me confidence and a sense of accomplishment and third, without I'd seriously be a stress case. lol
I used to exercise just for weight loss, but that doesn't motivate me enough. Now I exercise for health, but to be honest it's mostly just because I know I should. I am finding workouts that I like though, and I definitely feel less stressed out so I think I may be developing other reasons to hit the gym! I do feel a lot better about myself now that I workout regularly.
Sounds bad, but 80 % of the time I exercise to look good. The other 20% is because I like it and its a nice break and stress relief from daily life. Just bein honest :)
This made me think a lot! I definitely exercise to see results, changes in my body. It makes me feel healthier and leaner. But working out definitely does become a chore to me sometimes, and I want to find a way to change that!
Haha wow, I am out of my house enough- I don't need exercise for that :) But I would say my #1 motivation is stress relief and general health. I don't really exercise for weight loss because I've never had any success losing weight from exercise alone :)
I exercise because it makes me feel so good about myself and it is also my time to just be real with me, my limits and my body!
I exercise for my health, weight, and the way it makes me feel...if I don't workout, I feel sluggish and anxious.
I exercise for weight loss, health, and to get out of the house! ha, I'd be bored to death if I didn't get out and exercise. I also exercise to listen to music. I'm not one to pop on the ipod or turn on the radio randomly, I'm more of a tv watcher, so getting to the gym or going for a walk lets me listen to some tunes.
I exercise for my health, to maintain my weight, to get toned, and for my moods.
i might start stuffing my chicken that way! its so clever... but i get sick of stuff too so i know how that goes!
I workout for my health first.. but things like doing a race and training for it is mainly to do something outdoors with my husband.
I'm definitely addicted to the feeling you get after working out - completely content and tired. I also agree that it is the best stress reliever.
Happy Wednesday!
I was reading the same article! I love the feeling I get from working out and training for races gives me such a sense of accomplishment. I guess I do it so I don't turn into a huge blob also.
I don't have any fun exercise friends like that article mentions though!
I exercise for health and also to have me time for 1 hour without anything else going on.
I exercise for a bunch of reasons. It makes me feel good about myself, on the inside and outside. I like knowing I'm taking care of my health. now that I'm in a routine, exercise comes automatically. I don't even have to think about it. It's something I have to do.
I also like adding races in here and there so I have something to train for. Keep my motivation up!
haha, if my significant other worked out...that would be the day that pigs fly! Actually, working out is a time for me to get AWAY from Nick :) I work out because it gives me energy that lasts throughout the day. And those endorphins, well, you just can't beat them!
I exercise to relax and take a break from life! :) And to try to be healthy. I am not very good at that!
I definitely exercise to feel good. Is that bad?? The endorphin rush and feeling sweaty after a good sweat session fuels my workout. And then there's the incredible feeling of euphoria when you take a shower after the workout. *sigh* that, to me, is the best part! hahaha
P.s. Stop by my blog if you might be interested in winning some chia seeds to put in your oats!! :)
i think it definitely depends on the sample- if you were to ask college students, i guarantee the reason they work out is to stay in shape/look good. However, if you ask people who are middle-aged it may truly be because they enjoy the social aspect/feel good/whatever. I personally am torn as to why I work out. i think i do it because i feel good afterwards and i feel accomplished/want to be healthy, but at the same time it was a weight loss thing for so long that it is sometimes hard to distinguish :-\
when I am motivated, it's because I feel like serious crap mentally and need a boost! much more motivated when i have a partner in crime.
I started exercising for my physical health, but I continue exercising for mental health too. I feel 100x healthier and happier when I work out regularly.
I feel like I'm not supposed to admit this, but I exercise to maintain my weight. That's not to say that there aren't other benefits, because there certainly are.
I definitely started exercising so I could eat more! I never ever thought I would get to this point, but now I (usually) love it. I do lots of classes at the gym which is a fun way to be with lots of people and away from my life stresses. Running is less fun in the moment, but I love the sense of accomplishment from completing new running goals.
Exercise definitely helps my mood as well.
i exercise to remain at a sane level!!! it de stresses me..and i just love a good sweat!
It amazing how sneaky gluten can be. Its in things you would never imagine! I have a bag of soy crumbles from Morningstar Farms...realized after I bought them that they have gluten in them.
I workout because I love how good I feel afterward. Great stress relief, which for me, translates to less tummy trouble.
That's an interesting article! I exercise for my health first, but also to take some "me time" during my day. Because I am a runner, I'm also motivated to exercise because I'm constantly trying to attain a new goal - an upcoming race or some speedwork.
I wish I had a suggestion for you for a replacement meal for your chicken! Maybe grilled fish or something?
I work out for a few reasons. One is to lose these pesky 5-7lbs that keep coming back every year (seriously, it's a cycle. lose in the winter, gain during baseball season. I'm hoping this new gym routine keeps the gain to a minimum this year!). Another is to stay healthy. For instance, I've got a family history of high blood pressure. Working out (along with eating right) can help me keep mine down. I'm kinda starting to like it now, so hopefully another reason will eventually be because I enjoy it!
