The workout is broken down into 5 ten minute sections:
- Upper Body Weights & Resistance Band
- Upper Body Resistance Band
- Abdominals
- Abdominals With Leg Variations
- Upper Body, Back & Hip Stretches
The weights portion of the upper body workout consisted of shoulder presses, upright rows, bicep curls, and tricep exercises that are KILLER. I don't know the names of them because I've only ever done them in Core Fusion, but they are tough! The resistance band portion consisted of more bicep and tricep exercises with different variations using the band. I liked using the resistance band a lot. I found it easier to use than the weights in this workout because you can control the resistance simply by using less or more of the band. You don't have to pause to change your dumbbells, you just move your hands. The resistance band was also a lot tougher than I expected...in a good way.
The first ab routine consisted of the traditional C-Curve and using the resistance band to add in some oblique exercises. I'm still using the modified version of the C-Curve (holding on to my thighs), but I let go more often so I think I'm getting better. The second ab routine with leg variations was really tough for me. Lifting my legs for every ab exercise while maintaining a C-Curve was very difficult. I was cursing at the television. I think that's a sign of a good workout though. If you're not being challenged, you're not going to see results right?
The last segment was stretching so that was my favorite. It was just different stretches using the resistance band.
Overall, I loved this workout. I prefer it over the Body Sculpt Core Fusion dvd, but only because I'm not trying to lean my lower body out right now so I don't do the lower body workouts on that dvd. Core Fusion Abs & Arms is more tailored to my current training goals. I'm definitely going to be adding Pure Abs & Arms to my workout schedule. 5 out of 5 Jersey Shore Fist Pumps!!

I used to rely soley on DVDs to workout, but have gone to the gym the past ~10 years or so. I'd love to try a good DVD at home, tho! Switch it up a bit. :)
That sounds like an intense workout!
Great review! I really need this DVD because I want my arms toned up so bad. Just came from CF..ouch!
i am not a HUGE fan of DVD's just beacuse I love the gym for motivation. I sometimes throw on an ab workout on demand but thats about it...its nice to find a REAL good one once in a while, then I would be more likely to get it from bloggers like you that give it fabulosu reviews!
Thanks for the review. Glad you are enjoying these videos.
I love the rating! I mean fist pumps is the standard measurement in all things worthy of mention!
My coworker brought her 3 year old to work the otehr day and I was a good "auntie" I taught him the word guido and how to do a proper fist pump! his mom was "thrilled"...cuz someone else taught him to fist pump and chant Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! (note to self: dont bring any of my future seedlings to work"
Thanks for the review! I could use a new DVD for the weekends when I'm feeling motivated, but not motivated enough to walk 500 feet to the gym.
Thanks for the review!!
Dumb question coming...is core fusion the same as exhale core fusion? I have a workout saved on my dvr "exhale core fusion: upper body sculpt" is this from the same series????
I love this rating system! (((((fist pumping))))))
Nice- I just ordered the Body Sculpt COre fusion. I actually considered the arms and abs because that is my main focus right now too but I figured I'd try the whole body one first and see how i liked it. I might have to make another order soon :)
I will remember this one. I am going to need some ab work in about 7 months!
Looks like an awesome workout! I need something good...
I've actually never tried any workout DVDs. I love going to the gym and socializing, so I don't know how I'd do with a DVD, but this sounds great. Thanks for the review - if I go for a DVD, Core Fusion would be it!
I've seen this workout quite a bit lately and have heard nothing but good things! I'll have to get it. I'm so bad at sticking with any sort of solid strength training or resistance training, so I think this could help.
In reference to your comment on my blog earlier- I agree with you and am so glad Mo'nique won. Her performance was outstanding. I felt so much during that movie. But I also was really disappointed that Sandra Bullock won. I don't know who you were rooting for, but I was 100% behind Meryl Streep. Her performance was absolutely incredible. Total embodiment and grace of character acting.
Did you love any dresses? I did think Bullock looked great. And Queen Latifah looked really great in that pink number. Oh and Kate Winslet. Sorry, this is way too long of a comment!
This does sound like a video I would be interested in purchasing! Thanks for the review. Now that we are moving, I don't have my free gym :( So I need things like this to keep me motivated until I find a good gym.
Have a great day Melissa!
