Hawkin' My Wares

Good morning and happy Friday! Wow, what a week it's been. I feel like I'm on an emotional roller coaster this week. It's been crazy. Everything from work to regular life has been up and down. I hate weeks like this and I'm looking forward to the weekend.....I hope I make it.

I ran 4 miles this morning and still felt "off." I don't know what's going on with me, but I haven't been able to get into my workouts at all. I've let my stress affect them instead of using them to relieve stress. I'm going to take tomorrow off and hopefully Sunday will start a new week of energizing workouts for me.

I recently purchased a Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor. Unfortunately, the strap it came with doesn't fit me and slides down my body when I workout. I emailed the company and they sent me a smaller strap, but that still doesn't fit me. I've decided to try to sell the Polar F4 on Craigslist, but wanted to list it here first. If anyone is looking for a heart rate monitor, Polar is the best. I'm going to buy another version from them that doesn't require a strap, so I have nothing against the company at all. The Polar F4 currently retails for $99.95 and I'm going to list it on Craigslist for $80. I'm offering it up to MelissaNibbles readers for $50. I've only used it three times and you'd just have to change the programming stats to your own (height and weight). If you're interested in purchasing the Polar F4, please email me at melissanibbles@gmail.com.

What do you do to re-energize your workouts when you're in a funk?

I get in exercise funks all the time. I'm in a long standing one right now. I find trying something different or switching up my routine helps. Otherwise, I take some time off and HOPE that helps.

I think sometimes a break is a good thing! Sorry that things have been so crazy, though. You'll make it to the weekend and then hopefully things will mellow out and get back to normal. Just try to stay positive for the rest of the day! You're only hours away from a few days off if you think about it. :)

Sorry about the stress :-/ I am a big believer in rest days. Either that or a intense yoga session always makes me feel better.

Sometimes if I'm in a funk I just need time to myself. Bubble baths, reading a book...sometimes I just need to rejuvenate! Or treating myself to something, like a new shirt or kitchen gadget can help too =)

That's a heck of a deal on the heart rate monitor. I bought one once but hated having to wear that dang strap. I'm just lazy I guess.

When my workouts are off, I usually just take a break. And when I come back, things usually are back to normal.

Dang, I've been an emotional mess too! Are you pmsing? Because I think that's why I'm all crazy like. Oh, and I'm having a late quarter life crisis but who doesnt have those??

When my workouts are off, I take a day off or I power through with gusto and positivity. Actually, I power through and yell at myself in my head first, then change to positivity.

I hope you find your mojo!

Happy Friday, Melissa! Sorry about the rough week. I think its been a crazy one for most of the people I know. Something in the air?

I like to do something different to get me out of a workout rut. Maybe try a track workout or something shorter with high intensity. It definitely kicks the endorphins into overdrive.

That is so funny that you are placing it for sale here, but it is a great idea. I hope you get it sorted out.

I felt like I was in a funk last week. It happens. :o/

I like Emily's suggestion to try a short, high intensity workout to get some endorphins flowing.

If I'm in a funk... I leave the watch at home and run a route I've never done before! Sometimes it's so liberating to have no idea what the distance is, or how long it takes (I get obsessed with my pace per mile... I need a support group for it it's so bad) Running completely intuitively and listening to my body helps me get out of a funk and enjoy the workout.

It's harder on the treadmill... because the numbers just glare at you and you always know how fast or slow you're going!... but sometimes draping a towel over it helps me.

Good deal for a HRM... Hmmmm.......

I also have trouble with the heart rate montior strap being too big. I used two safety pins and made it smaller - it seems to work for me...

Just a suggestion!

When I'm in a workout funk, I usually sign up for a race. A smaller one like a 5K. That re-energizes me for some reason.

I have the same HRM and I don't use the strap! I just stuff it in my bra and it works just fine and doesn't slip out!

When I get into workout funks I try to do something I really enjoy - a certain yoga class or a short run in an area I really like. Doing something that's enjoyable usually puts me back on track.
