Curse You Core Fusion And Cameras!

Thanks for your advice on my vegetarian struggles. I'm not sure if it's just a temporary thing that will pass or if it's something that a piece of chicken wouldn't clear up right away. Most of you suggested eating high quality, grass fed meat and I agree with that. If I were to eat meat, that would be what I'd do. Even when I ate meat, I didn't eat it very often. Maybe once a week? Eating it once in a while wouldn't be a bad thing. I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I'm going to try getting more creative in the kitchen and looking for more recipes online. Thanks to those of you who commented and emailed me with restaurants that cater specifically to vegetarians. I think hitting those up once in a while will help as well. After thinking about it more, I've realized that it's the whole label thing I'm struggling with. Why do we do that to ourselves? We're vegetarian, flexatarian, pescatarian, vegan, etc...I think we should just be. On the other hand, having a label is easier than having to explain to someone, "Well, I eat meat, but only grass fed, high quality meat and only once a month on Tuesdays when there's a half moon." I guess labels are okay :)

This morning's workout was my third time with Core Fusion. It was the toughest one so far. I thought it would get easier with time, but I guess it all depends on how your body feels that day. There are so many variables that go into how you feel during a workout. You can never tell how it's going to go. It's always an adventure! I struggle the most during the leg workouts of Core Fusion. It was so difficult this time around that I was cursing at the television! Good thing I'm not in a class. I'd feel bad if I cursed at a real person during a workout. I'm glad the workout is still challenging me though. It would suck if it were easy after just a few times. I was planning on going to the gym to use the elliptical after work, but once I got home I didn't feel like going out again. I did Cheryl Burke's Disco Abs instead. I love that workout! It's so fun and silly. I think I burned more calories doing that instead of the elliptical anyway. I really get into it...I'm a fool.

Tonight I was craving the shuttle salad from Fat Cat. I cried to Julie about it over email and she suggested creating my own at home So that's what I did. Thanks Julie! I used what I had on hand so it wasn't the shuttle salad exactly, but it worked. I didn't have shrimp so I used a Quorn Burger, I used feta instead of goat cheese, and I used raisins instead of dried cranberries. Unfortunately, when I went to upload the picture, I deleted it! I thought it had transferred from my camera to the computer, so I hit delete on the picture. Then the program said, "no new pictures found." I stink! Here's a picture of the salad I recreated from Fat Cat:

Just imagine a cut up Quorn burger instead of the shrimp. I'm sorry guys! I was so excited about my salad too :(

I hope you guys had a great day and thanks again to Shelley for sharing her struggles in her guest post this morning. I'm off to watch The Daily Show. I wonder what it says about me that I have a crush on Jon Stewart and Stringer Bell. Anyway, goodnight all!

What dish have you recreated from a restaurant?

Oooh I totally have crushes on Jon Stewart and Stringer Bell!
I'll have to look into this Core Fusion - I'm not great about videos at home, but this one sounds super tough!

Cool! I'm glad you re-created it! It's sounds pretty good. Do it again tomorrow so we can see it ;)
I want to do a workout video so bad, but I'm afraid I'll quit cause I'm a quitter like that. I should just suck it up.

I totally agree just be! Sometimes I feel weird after eating a veggie burger or two but I bounce back!

I've tried recreating the "Chopstick chicken Ubowl" from UFood grill. All it is is brown rice, broccoli, white meat chicken, and special thai ginger sauce, but I cannot replicate that sauce!

I hate labels - Even though I decided not to eat meat I wouldn't call myself a vegetarian. Labels = restrictions in my book.

The one thing I crave is reallllly good sushi from an amazing Japanese restaurant. There's just no substitute.

I had spicy green beans from a Vietnamese restaurant and found a similar recipe online. They came out really good and I've made them many times since then.

That was a great idea to recreate it. I am trying to think if we have recreated food dished, but we did recreate this drink caled the big blue. It was a $20 drink for 2 people and they were strick when you ordered, only 1 at a time and no other drinks on the table if you were only 2 people. Then during happy hour is was only $12, so that is when we would order it. After asking the servers and bar tenders over a period of time we finally got the recipe/ingredients. They kept it secret so only a few ingredients were given out, but over time each person gave out different ones. We were able to make one very similiar at home at as treat. It was just fun to do the investigative work.

Fun videos are sometimes the best workout. :) I did a dance video once about a year ago and had a hell of a time because I kept trying to be perfect.

I've never done it, but I really want to recreate Panera's Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich. It's my favorite...I always get it (or at least half of it with soup) when I go!

Hey girl! Please tell me you're going to call out the well known blogger who cut and pasted your post and passed it off the other day. You should put it in your Three Things Thursday.

Might be coming home soon. I'll holla!

@Kara: No, it's not worth it. I've been working on an email to send to her about it though. She's done it to other people as well. I just think it's best handled privately.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm determined that someday I'll recreate the raw lasagna from Pure Food and Wine!

How can you not love jon stewart? Impossible.

Oh camera troubles, happen to me all the time! I delete things, or eat them too fast and forget to take pictures :) I can IMAGINE your wonderful salad, I really can.

Is this core fusion a yoga exercise? I did an 11 minute (really 8 minute) quick abs on Yoga exercise tv last night and my abs HURT! Seriously, I recommend it.

I love your honestly and your ability to give your opinion on ANYTHING, not matter how much other people love it. I'm talking about the Biggest Loser. I agreed with your comment about the "heaviest man" who lost "the most weight". I really think the show gets worse and worse each saeason. This may be my last season watching it, but it's nice because it's on on tuesdays, when Nick is at poker, so it keeps me occupied.

So many people hate the labels, but I think they serve the purpose you mentioned :) I hope you figure out what is right for you.

I want to try a vegetarian diet for a week so let me know some of the vegetarian restaurants that were suggested.

Also, once I watch the Kite Runner, Food Inc. is next on my movie list. So I'm making an effort to be more well-informed!

Jon Stewart is a sexy man! :o)

I love to try to recreate restuarant meals at home.

I think one of my faves is the taco salad from Qdoba - I baked a shell instead of frying it. It turned out pretty good!
