Were you able to watch Janet Jackson's special, "In The Spotlight" last night on ABC? I watched the first ten minutes, but fell asleep. Luckily, I was able to watch the rest online tonight. There are a few clips that broke my heart, but I related to as well. Janet (Ms. Jackson if you're nasty) spoke openly about her weight struggles and how she deals with it. She admitted that her family picked on her about her weight and she carried that with her all her life. I think we all tend to do that. You get used to hearing someone tell you something is wrong with you, it becomes second nature to believe it. You can see a few clips here. Janet is writing a book about her struggles, and I can't wait to read it. I've always been a fan of hers and marvel at how down to earth she is. Especially coming from not only a famous family, but a family in which almost every member has body image issues. How do you even try to overcome that? I can't imagine having to live up to not only your family's expectations for your looks, but the world's. It's ridiculous the amount of work female singers have to put into being in shape. Will you read Janet Jackson's book?
I got home late from work tonight and was starving when I walked in the door. I cranked up the Janet Jackson (Pleasure Principle oh oh oh!), and made myself a yummy dinner.
A Boca Burger on a romaine bun with spinach & artichoke hummus and pickles. For my sides, a baked sweet potato and roasted brussels sprouts. After I took the picture, I added Laughing Cow Garlic and Herb Cheese to the burger and inside the potato skins. Very comforting after a long day. My plan is to go on a 4 mile run in the morning. I really need to stick to that plan and not overdo it. I can't help it though, my runs are a major stress reliever for me this week. We'll see how it goes. Have a great night friends!

I've never been much of a fan of Janet Jackson, but after reading this post, I'm interested to read her book...because she's such a famous person, I don't think I really saw her as a real human being with issues until now.
I hope today is a better day. I missed your earlier post with my own lousy day. But it's a new on...and it's Friday!!!
I didn't know she was writing a book. I'll totally read it. I'm a sucker for a celebrity memoir (I just read the Jodie Sweetin book - yup) and I'm sure her book would be really interesting.
i didn;t see that special but I did see her interviewed on another tv show and she is realy great. I would be very interested in reading her book. She has been through alot and on top of that i LOVE her 80's tunes like black cat!!
i went on a 4 mile run this morning too!!
can't wait to finally meeeetttt you soon!!!
I didn't see the special but I think that's because the Portugese probably didn;t care to air it. I guess there is always the internet. Enjoy your Friday!
God luck with the rainy run!
sweet taters and brussel sprouts?! two of my all time loves.
