Last night my manperson and I headed out to see "Couples Retreat" and to grab some dinner. A little "date night" if you will. The theater was PACKED. We ended up having to park in a parking lot down the street from the theater. Those Twilight kids are crazy! It annoyed me that "New Moon" was playing on almost every screen because the movies that I wanted to see were only playing once or twice during the day to accommodate "New Moon." I think that's unfair to other movie goers and also to the other movies. Yes, "New Moon" is breaking box office records, but how can it not when it's almost impossible to see anything else? I really wanted to see "Pirate Radio" but the only time it was playing was at 11:30 PM. There's no way this old lady would go to the movies at that time. Okay, rant over. "Couples Retreat" was...okay. It was your typical Vince Vaughn movie, wait, that's not true, it wasn't. I know a lot of people thought this movie was funny, but I think I laughed once. I felt like I was watching the show "According To Jim" in movie form. It was that bad. I know I'm a movie snob and I don't deny that, but this movie was terrible. Christian kept asking me, "What did you expect?" and I guess I just thought it would be more funny because my beloved Jason Bateman was in it. "Arrested Development" was hands down the best television show in history (I will fight you on this) and he seems to make good career choices, so I guess I thought this movie would be a bit better. If you want to see it, I'd say wait for it to come out on dvd. Okay, moving on...
After the movie, we went to our favorite sushi joint,
Hayashi. Fun fact, we had our first dinner date here! We started with a little edamame.

Melissa Nibbles! The boy enjoyed some miso soup
slurp slurpAnd we devoured Sake-Avo Maki (Salmon, Avocado) and
Caterpilla Maki (Eel, Cucumber, Masago Covered w/ Avocado).
Even though I didn't enjoy the movie all that much, I definitely enjoyed my Saturday. I tried a new aerobics class, relaxed, and had a great date night. Life doesn't get much better :)
What is a movie that everyone else liked that you hated?

Glad you had a nice night out despite the movie flop. I can;t think of one I didn't like that others did off the top of my head but I am sure in about 30 minutes a bunch will come to me!
haha manperson, I like that. I dislike most rom-coms. Like "how to lose a guy in 10 days" and "bride wars". Granted I've never seen bride wars, I just know I would hate it.
I seriously love that you put "manperson." Hilarious.
I think for me it was probably Titanic, circa 7th grade. I thought the only saving grace was Leo because I loved him. Everyone else was obsessed with it and I thought it was too long and I was pissed that Leo had to die. Apparently I'm still bitter too, ha!
i'm sorry you didn't love the movie! i kind of liked it, it def made me smile. & that sushi looks AWESOME
Sushi looks delicious! I am a movie snob too ;-) I was definitely tempted by the Jason Bateman factor....LOVE arrested development!
Oh boy, I could go on about the moves that everyone loves but I hated (or never saw!). New Moon is definitely one of them, and I laughed when I said how could anyone see anything else since it's the only one playing!? haha. Others are Star Wars and Harry Potter (I saw the first one, but not because I wanted to).
The sushi looks DEEEELicious!
Hey Melissa, can you e-mail me your home address? I'm sending you a little something :)

Yum, dinner looked great!
And I haven't jumped on the Twilight/New Moon bandwagon yet....
The Twilight books were good and so was the movie. I'll see this one too, but I'm not in a hurry. No need for it to hog all the theaters!
The sushi looks great! I need to go out for sushi again soon.
thanks for the review!!! now I know I'm not missing out on too much!!
i am SOO not a twi-hard..I dont even understand the madness, I stayed far away from the theaters this weekend!
mmm eddamame is dellliiisshhh
xo
i feel like there are too many movies everyone loves that i hate - well hate is a strong word - maybe "don't get" is more like it. "apocolypse now" comes to mind
Sorry you didn't like the movie! What was the new aerobics class?
I agree, its not fair that the diehard twilight fans are ruining a weekend at the movies for the rest of us. ;)
very cute post love edamame
I love edamame! Sounds like you had a great date night - sorry the movie wasn't so great...
