As you know, I'm a pasta addict. I don't believe in cutting it out of your diet, avoiding it, or trying to find substitutions. Pasta and all other carbs are good for you. Carbs provide you with the energy to get through those tough workouts and perform your best. Contrary to popular belief, pasta is not a high caloric food. The US Nutrition Facts label defines a serving of pasta as approximately 1 cup cooked (1/2 cup uncooked), containing about 200 calories. There's a big difference between having a serving of pasta for dinner and having a box of pasta for dinner. Restaurants are notorious for crazy portion sizes. Don't be afraid to ask for half your portion to be put in a to go box or ask them to bring you one and split the dish yourself. I was craving pasta tonight. I was going to cook up the other half of the spaghetti squash from the other night, but when I'm craving something, I want the real thing. I was much better with my portion size this time around. I feel full, but not uncomfortable.

This craving feeder is 1 cup cooked (1/2 cup dry) whole wheat pasta, a handful of broccoli, 1/4 cup dark red kidney beans in a tangy Greek yogurt cheddar cheese sauce (a big spoonful plain Oikos, a sprinkle of fat free cheddar stirred into the pasta). I had a small salad on the side made of romaine, cucumber and tomato just to get more veggies in. Craving satisfied and fuel for tomorrow morning's run.
We're already talking about the next Boston Blogger Meetup! We're thinking of Saturday, December 19th. There isn't a set plan, but the idea is to meet in the city for a holiday themed get together. Possibly looking at decorations or ice skating...and of course FOOD AND DRINK(S)! If you're interested, you can leave a comment, email me,
Melissa, or
Heather. I'm looking forward to a fun night of blogger shenanigans!

I am not a food blogger but I would love to join you ladies
You know I am in! I will need the stress relief, as that is finals week for me!
I love pasta, even though I haven't been eating gluten lately. I love big bowls of pasta, so I would take a serving of pasta and bulk it up with lots of veggies. It would look like a lot more and was really filling, so I felt like I was getting a heaping amount.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow :)
What a wonderful dinner creation!! I love your creativity.
I'm also jealous of the blogger meet up :( Have great time!
Blogger meetup.. how fun. Kinda far for me, though!!
Your pasta looks fabulous.. no way/no how could I ever cut it out of my diet either!
I'd totally be up for a blogger meetup! It sounds great. :)
im in for the meet up!!!
i totally agree with you about pasta...its just so good! why would anyone cut it out completely?!
I agree, pasta is not evil like people think. Everything is okay in moderation. Love what you did with yours!
I am total pasta lover! My family and I have switched to Brown Rice Pasta (gluten sensitivity) and are able to still enjoy all its goodness!!!
Do you like laughing cow or greek yogurt better as a pasta sauce ingredient? I haven't tried yogurt yet and laughing cow was good but difficuly to melt!
@chocolatepickle: Greek yogurt by a landslide. Laughing Cow refuses to melt for me when I try to mix it with pasta. You can add parm chz to Greek yogurt for a great alfredo sauce!
I'm excited about a blogger meet-up. I haven't been ice skating for a million years, but I'd certainly be up for trying! I'll do my very best to keep my schedule clear (hopefully no gigs that day...)
I'm definitely in! I can't wait to meet some new chickas in the area! Although I definitely CANT ice skate...could be humorous lol ;)
Yea for a blogger get together!
