Nothing Tastes As Good...

Hi guys! I hope you had a great Sunday. Today was a rest day from the gym and I didn't have anything exciting on the agenda. This morning I got my hairs did, but that's about it. Nothing spectacular, just took about two inches off. My oats today were pretty stellar though. I call this one, "Strawberry Pie.

Strawberry Pie consists of 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese, cinnamon, sliced strawberries, a spoonful of PB Loco Cookie Dough PB, and two crushed Newmans Own Arrowroot Alphabet cookies. It was delightful.

I spent the afternoon catching up on saved shows on my dvr. One of the shows was last night's SNL with host Joseph Gordon Levitt (I thought he was a great host by the way). One of the jokes in Weekend Update referenced a comment made earlier in the week by supermodel Kate Moss. In an interview, Moss stated that "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." Dreamboat Seth Myers commented, "Said the rest of the world, BACON!" I prefer frosting, but I get Seth's point. To be honest, I think Moss said it because she knew it would be shocking and would get her press. It obviously worked. I wish the media wouldn't report on it though. It just brings that random interview into the spotlight and on the tv screens of every young girl out there. Now this story is going to be the talk of the pro-ana and pro-bulimia websites that many young girls spend time on. The media isn't doing anyone any favors by reporting one sentence taken from an interview with a fashion industry website. Why can't we ignore celebrities when they say foolish things? Now we're going to have to endure a month of her on tv talking about her weight and apologizing for her comment. It will probably only add more fuel to the fire and more "inspiration" for the pro-ana websites. I don't even want to know why she thinks that. Who cares? I mean, using a $1000 vibrator probably doesn't feel as good as shooting heroin, but I'm not about to do that either.

I was all worked up over Kate Moss I didn't realize it was dinner time. Dinner was yummy in my tummy!

I baked a Quorn Chik'N Patty, topped it with Classico Sweet Basil Marinara, and served it with cheesy broccoli slaw "pasta." To make the cheese sauce, I simply stirred in a heaping spoonful of plain Oikos Greek yogurt and about 1/4 cup of fat free Kraft cheddar cheese. I had a random serving of tomatoes and cucumbers because they looked good sitting in the fridge. If you haven't tried broccoli slaw "pasta," you're missing out. It's the bizness.

What do you think about the media's coverage of Kate Moss?

I totally agree with you about the Kate Moss interview. We wonder why we have such weight problems/eating disorders. At some point the media has SOME social responsibility!

I think she said that because she doesn't know what actual food tastes like anyway. She's clearly never had a cookie or piece of cake so she's talking out a$$. I think the just look of her is sending a bad message. Her thin frame is glamorized because of all the pretty clothes she wears.

Media coverage of celebrites as a whole is out of control anyway. I mean, how many time has Kate Gosselin been on the Today show?! I don't watch the Today show to hear about her "problems", I would like some real news please, not this reality tv bull crap. I really could care less about her and her children. Who really gives a sh*t anyway??? Yes, I read celebrity blogs, but I read dlisted which is snarky and sarcastic and makes fun of celebrities. I am not a star worshiper.

PS - Love the new header!! It's so cute!!

i want that cookie dough PB right NOW! oh my goodness. i love your random dinner!

i do NOT like that kate moss said that, obviously she did it for attention or she needs to get her priorities straight.

lol I just read your comment...I'm glad we bonded over it too! This James Franco character is so mysterious...I can't wait to find out what his deal is.

I can't even remember the last time I watched SNL. I'm not to sad I missed it. That's the kind of thing that just makes me hang my head and shake it. I'm getting really sick of celebrities and how the majority of them don't choose to do something useful with their fame. Kate Moss needs to eat something and get some help.

PS The header is so unbelievably cute! I absolutely love it!

I watched SNL but I totally missed that part. I agree, ridiculous comment and it doesn't deserve any press.

LOVE your new banner. The graphic girlie is super cute.

I love Classico's sauce!!! Especially the Tomatoe and Basil & the Roasted Garlic/Onion...but my plate is like covered in it versus the little portion on yours!!! :(...oops - i have a serious problem i think. yeah, i agree with the Kate Moss thing - I really don't care to be honest - I'm not going out anytime soon and starving myself to look like her just because she said so...honestly some people put too much stock into these celebrities...their egos and heads are big enough as it is!!

those oats look soo good. & about kate moss, this is the firs ti've heard of it! (i guess i'm living in a cave) but i find that really upsetting & i can't stand that celebrities are the people that are 'role models' when their logic/actions are so messed up.

I had missed the Kate Moss comment. After working with so many young people, I agree and can confirm that those kids of comments are incredibly detrimental to kids.

I love your new header! You're going to have to teach me how. I plan to do some playing with my blog once my semester is over and I can breath again!

I've lost all respect for Kate Moss.

Oh the joys of living overseas as I have heard nothing of this. I think many people know she is way too thin and that she has some issues. She is always under scrutiny for being too thin as it is and an unhealthy lifestyle, so I think after years of her being around people see it for what it is, although younger generations will clearly see it differently and get the wrong idea. That is really the concern would be for young and pre-teens who only know her as a model, not the rest of the trouble she has been in.

I agree - it was a publicity stunt and nothing more. She's no longer relevant and is desperate for attention!

Love the oatmeal recipe! Yum!

And, I heard that comment from Moss too! Oh boy, how awful! When people start focusing on losing weight instead of health ... it is so sad, especially when they're only aiming to be a skinny minny. People need to be aware of how their comments affect young girls and even women. Great post

I agree, I don't even know why this is a newsworthy story. She probably did just say it for the shock value, and of course everyone runs after it.

I seriously almost spit out my water. I love it.

I've heard that quote said at Weight Watchers meetings or in other "diet" forums and I really dislike when people say it. It makes me sad because being thin doesn't necessarily translate into being happy. I agree, it's a very dangerous message to send to young girls too and that worries me the most.

haha, I saw SNL last night too and Nick and I were cracking up over the news segment! Actually, that's sometimes the only part of SNL we watch. We also watched Dave Matthews last night, who was awesome as usual.

I think Kate Moss's comment has been completely misinterpreted. If she had once been overweight, and then said that, would people be treating the comment the same way? No! They would be proud of her for conquering her weight issues. I think the media shouldn't have taken that comment and run with it, they should have just let it slide, as it's effecting people more now that the media has blown it up!

I missed that comment but I totally agree with you. It is so frustrating.

Love your new layout! Blog fairy is the best!
