Jungle Boogie Oats

Good afternoon! I woke up before my alarm went off this morning. It was only five minutes earlier, but lately I've been sleeping right up until it goes off. I bounded out of bed ready to run again. I've had a lot of energy the past couple of mornings. I think it's the Sam-e supplement I've been taking. It's says it increases your mood, so maybe that just mean it gives you energy? Who knows. I'll take the extra energy where I can get it! I stretched, worked my abs and headed out on my run. I was back to wearing a jacket over my running gear this morning...it made me sad :( I wish it were 50 degrees every morning that I run. It was only 35 today. I still managed to run 5 miles in 46 minutes. I used the Galloway Method on my run today, running for four minutes walking for 1. I used that method when I first started running and it helped increase my endurance and distance. I haven't been happy with my running times lately, so I hope returning to the Galloway Method will help me improve.

After showering, I made myself some Jungle Boogie Oats. After my review of PB Loco's Cookie Dough Peanut Butter, the company offered to send me some samples to try more flavors. I was excited to try the Jungle Banana flavor. To make my Jungle Boogie Oats, I mixed 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, cinnamon, sliced bananas, and a spoonful of PB Loco Jungle Banana Peanut Butter.

Get down with the get down!

I liked the Jungle Banana flavor in my oats. I was expecting the peanut butter to have an artificial banana taste, but it didn't at all. To be honest, I could barely taste the banana. It was VERY subtle. However, when I took a bite of oats with a slice of banana, they seemed sweeter than normal. I think the peanut butter enhanced the bananas more than the oats. I think that's a good thing though because it tasted more natural that way. If you want to try PB Loco for yourself, PB Loco is offering a coupon to all Melissa Nibbles readers:

I've had a busy morning at work so far, but I broke for lunch about 15 minutes ago for this bad boy:

Whole wheat wrap filled with Cedar's Lemon Zest hummus, romaine, cucumber, sprouts, and dried cranberries. The taste of the lemon hummus mixed with the cranberry rocked my face off. You should try this combination soon!

Okay, back to work I go. Have a great rest of the afternoon!
Do you use the Galloway Method when you run? Do you find it helpful?

Haha, it rocked your face off. That made me LOL. I've never tried the Galloway Method, but I'd like to. I think it would help me stay entertained during my treadmill time.

@Melissa: The Galloway Method is great for the treadmill. It helps fight the boredom :)

I used Couch to 5K when I started running and it's very similar to Galloway. I really like it because it breaks up the time and isn't as hard on your body when you're first starting out.

I read an article that said running with walk breaks in between actually helps you build endurance and is very similar to the way our ancestors used to hunt for food. They would run for long periods after the animal and then walk, run, then walk. It was really interesting to hear it in that perspective!

I love the Galloway Method - used it for marathon training this time around, and used it in the race too!

That wrap looks awesome, yum! :)

I haven't tried the Galloway method, but I really like running "Fartleks" which is when you jog and then sprint for random sections of the run - it makes you feel fast!

I like the Galloway method! That is how I was able to get myself started on running, it is a great tool to increase endurance.

I haven't tried the Galloway method but I do sometimes try to sprint between telephone poles or between streets.

Matt loves PB loco - I will let him know about that coupon!

Ok, thanks so much for the info on this PB, I checked out the site and it all looks so good. I am investigating if I could get it shipped to my APO address since that would be awesome.

Hi Melissa,

Thought I'd answer your Better N Peanut Butter question on here:) I think it's definitely worth a try on a wrap if you have other things in the wrap.....I think it is good by itself, just not AS good as regular peanut butter...but if you have fruit or something else to complement the taste on a wrap, I would guess it would taste delicious!

Hummus and cranberries sounds like a fun combo! This is one of the many reasons I love food blogs... I never would have thought of that on my own!! :)

Oh YUM!! I want some Jungle Boogie oats! They sound, and look, fantastic!

Glad the Sam-E is giving you some energy. With fibromyalgia, sometimes energy is hard to find.

I'm glad you've been feeling so energetic! It takes energy to run outside when it's 35!
